I started the Web 2.0 class from Olli yesterday and am giving blog writing a try. Since I have lots of thoughts that I do not have time, energy, or people to share them with this may work out. It is fascinating to think of all these thoughts out in cyberspace.
Today reinforced my subscription to the Wall Street Journal with an article about a bomb sniffing Laborador named Gunnar who worked with the Marines. After his deployment to Afghanistan he developed PSTD. There is more to the story - but what brought me to tears was his adoption by a family who had lost their 21 year old son in Iraq. He was killed when he used his helmet to cover a roadside bomb, thereby saving the lives of two fellow marines. The Dunhams have not only adopted Gunnar but their family is helping the two young men who were saved by their son though their emotional upheavals brought on by the war and seeing their Captain killed while saving their lives. I have to believe that there are positive consequences for some men in fighting this war - but many will be marked for life and someone has to be there to help.
